The Infamous Masterson’s , positioned in the vibrant core of Moonee Ponds, markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my latest trip at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I encountered behind its doors was disturbing and far below any standard .

The State of Affairs: Grimy and Neglected
From the moment I walked in , it was clear that sanitation was not a priority at this bar . The floors were sticky , and a foul smell of uncleaned spills and filthy restrooms permeated the entire bar . Reeking of a mixture of urine , putrefaction and illness . The serving zone , which should be the primary feature of any pub, was littered with unwashed glassware and trash that looked like it had been ignored for a long time . The lavatory was in even a truly awful state— clogged , with a cracked flush mechanism and surfaces marked in what I can only assume was human excrement .

It wasn’t just a single bad experience either. Going through other patrons’ reviews and speaking with locals , it seems that the quality of upkeep (or lack thereof) at this bar is mastersons bar a recurring complaint.
